Tripoli’s most beautiful and most luxurious; the Hammam is currently undergoing restoration. It is the new Ottoman bath built by Asaad Pasha al-Athem in 1740 AD. It features a luxurious gateway decorated with cornices, domes and beautiful finishes surrounded by white and black stones.
Above the gate a string of stones carved out of a single stone turned by the craftsman into a series of separate overlapping rings reflecting unbeatable originality. Inside, the new Hammam looks like the rest of Tripoli’s old Hammams. The grand hall is covered by a huge dome and features a colorful marble floor in exquisite shapes surrounded by stone terraces with a basin and a fountain in the middle.
The internal sections partitions (outer, middle and inner) are characterized by domes decorated with different configurations of openings covered with thick glass to allow daylight in.
